EARTH CRISIS Offers High Praise For Going Vegan In New PETA2 Ad
May 5, 2009As their much-anticipated album "To the Death" (Century Media) dropped today, all five members of the defining straight-edge hardcore band EARTH CRISIS appear in a brand-new pro-vegan print ad for peta2, the world's largest youth animal rights organization. In the ad, the guys appear next to the tagline "Veganism Is the Essence of Compassion and Peaceful Living." The ad goes on to read, "Animals are living creatures who have the right to live in peace." And to make sure that everyone gets the message about where the band stands on animal rights, the first 13,000 copies of "To the Death" will contain peta2's "Meat Is Murder" stickers, and peta2's "Free for All" marketing slogan sticker will appear on the front of every album.
For a limited time, visitors to peta2.com can register to win an EARTH CRISIS merch pack containing a copy of "To the Death" and a classic EARTH CRISIS "Animal Liberation" shirt.
Longtime EARTH CRISIS fans will be happy to know that "To the Death" channels the spirit of "Gomorrah's Season Ends" and "Destroy the Machines", adds in some modern flair, and still manages to touch on the topics that are the closest to the band members' hearts — animal rights and straight edge. And if you doubt these guys' commitment, you need only listen to the last line of "To the Death" — "Vegan to the Death!" — which should come as no shock from a band that's known for leading the vegan straight-edge movement in the 1990s.
EARTH CRISIS joins a growing list of bands and musicians — including SICK OF IT ALL, SHAI HULUD, CONVERGE, and RISE AGAINST — who have teamed up with peta2 to inspire kids to challenge outdated and cruel attitudes about animals. Also featured on peta2.com are celebrity interviews, message boards, merchandise, downloadable voice-mail recordings, and contests that give visitors chances to win great prizes, such as free concert tickets, iPods, and more.
